MARJB Delegates Attend Workers United Convention in Cleveland, Ohio
March 26-28, 2025 — Approximately thirty members and staff from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Joint Board joined over 400 other members representing 13 Joint Boards from across the United States and Canada at the Workers United International Convention held in Cleveland, OH. They took care of business, passed pivotal resolutions, and heard from amazing speakers, including Bishop William Barber II, Workers United International President Lynne Fox, SEIU President April Verrett, and AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler.

The theme of the convention was Defining Our Future, and after coming together to pass resolutions to buy union, stand against hostilities to our union family in Canada, and take on ambitious new organizing goals here and around the world, we know what we need to do...and, we are more FIRED UP and READY than ever before!
Members also enjoyed some amazing food and drink catered by our union family members who work at the Hyatt Regency and the Rocket Arena. After business concluded each day, members were invited to attend a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game against the San Antonio Spurs and a hockey game with the Cleveland Monsters facing off against the Texas Stars.

This was the first in-person Workers United convention in eight years, so it was a special time to come together and celebrate all that our union has accomplished as organizers and as members of the labor movement.

Get Out The Vote
Several MARJB staff in conjunction with staff and members from SEIU convened in Virginia on November 1-4, 2025, to make a final push to elect pro-worker champions leading up to the general election.

MARJB staff canvassed in House District 65 in Fredericksburg and spent a lot of their time knocking
on doors and speaking to Virginians about the candidates and the fight to elect candidates who support good
union jobs for hard working families.

The feedback from this effort was very positive and everyone enjoyed the opportunity!
