Starbucks Red Cup
REBELLION Day
11.16.23
On November 16, 2023, thousands of unionized baristas at over 300 Starbucks locations nationwide held a one-day strike called the "Red Cup Rebellion" to draw attention to ongoing complaints about staffing, scheduling, and other workplace issues.
Red Cup Day is an important day at Starbucks as it kicks off the holiday season and customers who order a hand-crafted holiday beverage receive a free, limited-edition, reusable red cup while supplies last.
The perfect day for a ULP strike. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Joint Board had several unionized Starbucks stores in Maryland and Virginia that participated in the strike.
These workers have been fighting for over two years to win a Union contract, improved working conditions, appropriate staffing levels, and a living wage. NO CONTRACT, NO COFFEE!!
This was the largest strike against Starbucks to date in the two year old effort to unionize the company's stores.
HCSC holds Employee/Union Appreciation Luncheon
On November 9, 2023, members of Local 284, employed at HCSC in Kingston, PA, were treated to an employee appreciation luncheon at the plant, sponsored and served by their employer.
This is one way the company shows their essential employees how important they are to the success of their operations and day to day business.
The luncheon was enjoyed by all!
